My store at the Rust Belt Market
I just started a new adventure – selling my art at my new retail space at the Rust Belt Market in Ferndale. The Rust Belt Market is a huge indoor space that houses over 50 artists and vendors. It’s kind of like shopping on Etsy but you get to see the merchandise in person and meet the artist behind the work. I was so excited to create my space and begin this new journey. I’ve been a graphic designer for 20 years and was so ready to switch gears and create art that felt meaningful to me, and the Rust Belt felt like the perfect place to begin.
My first step was to design my retail space. I had a feel for what I wanted my booth to look like so I designed the space digitally. My husband is a super talented carpenter who built all of my beautiful displays and tables. We worked together figuring out the actual size of everything and how it would all fit. It was so fun to see it all come together and go from designs on a screen to an actual retail space in the market.
